Emerald Pastures and Rich, Red Soils: Welcome to the breath-taking scenery, spectacular Waterfalls and Rainforest in National Parks. Robertson was first settled by small farmers well over 100 years ago and is still an authentic rural Village. A unique discovery so close to Sydney and Canberra.
In the Highlands and close to the Sea: Robertson truly is the best of both worlds. There's picturesque farmland with winding country lanes and dry-stone walls and fences. Rugged, Rainforest escarpments provide some of the best, natural scenery Australia's Great Dividing Range has to offer. Plus, the South Coast Beaches are just half an hour away.
Something for Every Taste: In the Village you will find an eclectic mix of fine local Craft, Antiques and Collectables, Gifts, Good Food and a wide range of comfortable Accomodation ranging from Budget to the truly Decadent. And when you say "Hello" here, you can be sure of a warm welcome.
ILLAWARRA FLY The Illawarra Fly is a 500 metre long, 25 metre high elevated tree top walk ascending at a gentle grade and suitable for visitors of all mobilities. Nestled amongst the temperate rainforest of the Southern Highlands the treetop walk takes you along the picturesque Illawarra escarpment and offers inspiring views from Shellharbour to Bass Point, Lake Illawarra and the South Pacific Ocean.
For the thrill seeker a 45 metre high lookout is ascended via a spiral stairway offering panoramic views, combined with the beauty of the rainforest. View the Blackwoods, Gully Gums and Sassafras from a vantage point generally reserved for our flying friends.
Go to the Edge! The springboard cantilevers bounces gently, high over the picturesque Illawarra Escarpment.
Our quiet byways are a Motorist's delight. Give yourself time to explore our many scenic side roads. Picturesque country lanes lead through green pastures and patchwork fields to Heritage Villages like Burrawang and Kangaloon. There are wonderful water views over Lakes Wingecarribbee and Fitzroy. Two spectacular passes link Robertson to the Coast - one through Jamberoo to Kiama and the other via Macquarie Pass to Albion Park. Both are spectacular scenic routes - descending through dense Rainforest to reveal sweeping views of Coast and Sea.
THREE GREAT WATERFALLS Our three great Waterfalls are a "must see". They are all located within 15 minutes drive of Robertson, making the village an ideal base.
BELMORE FALLS: plunges first to a deep rock pool then onto the Valley floor. It is possibly the most striking of all. There are safe, cliff top lookouts along a one-way circuit drive. CARRINGTON FALLS: has cliff top walks, spectacular views of the Falls and gorges. Locals swim at Nellie's Glen (with care). Nearby Barren Grounds is an important Nature Reserve with a profusion of Native Flora and Fauna and level walks to Coastal lookouts. Plus Robertson has it's own Rainforest in the Reserve very close to the Village Centre. FITZROY FALLS: is fully developed for Visitors with a National Park Visitors Centre and Picnic areas.
WEATHER CHECK Because of our 700 metre altitude, Robertson is cooler than the Coast and our Rainfall is higher too. We have many glorious sunny days, but occasionally a mist will roll in or sudden showers fall. It could even Snow in Winter. So bring a jacket or sweater - just in case!
